There are big changes to the 2024 AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am Tournament, happening January 31st - February 4th. The PGA Tour released a revamped schedule for 2024 that includes replacing the Phoenix Open with the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am as a signature event with a $20 million prize. In exchange, the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am is cutting its field nearly in half and eliminating one of the three golf courses. This year Pebble Beach will host 80 players and 80 amateurs competing for 36 holes at Pebble Beach and Spyglass Hill, with only the pros advancing to the weekend at Pebble Beach.

With this new designation, the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am will be a completely reimagined tournament and an unbeatable fan experience. If you ask former attendees, they might say it’s the most fun tournament on the pro docket. The tournament features 70 to 80 players and is unique for having no cut after the second round. Initially founded by Bing Crosby, the tournament supports several charities through the Monterey Peninsula Foundation.

Though the Pro-Am typically features celebrity golfers, there will be no celebrity events this year, with only a select number of notable amateurs playing on Thursday and Friday. Players will compete at Spyglass Hill Golf Course on Thursday and Friday and at Pebble Beach Golf Links on all four days. This year’s field is bolstered by world #1 Scottie Scheffler, major champion Rory McIlroy, and FedEx Cup champion Viktor Hovland.

As the anticipation builds for the 2024 edition of this iconic event, golf enthusiasts and spectators alike are gearing up for a thrilling showcase of skill, strategy, and camaraderie. Here’s what you can expect from this year’s edition of the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am.

Pebble Beach Golf Links

The heart and soul of the tournament, Pebble Beach Golf Links, is a legendary course that has hosted historic moments in golf. Nestled along the dramatic cliffs of the Monterey Peninsula, this championship course boasts stunning views of the Pacific Ocean, pristine fairways, and challenging greens.

With its dramatic coastal views and challenging layout, this course sets the stage for a compelling tournament with a major-like atmosphere. Its legendary 7th hole is etched into golfing lore. With a design showcasing California's coastline's rugged beauty, Pebble Beach is the rare course that’s equally fun for spectators.

Spyglass Hill Golf Course

Designed by Robert Trent Jones Sr., this 18-hole gem seamlessly integrates lush fairways, towering Monterey Pines, and panoramic views of the Pacific Ocean. Spyglass Hill is consistently ranked among the top golf courses in the United States, enticing professionals and enthusiasts with its strategic design and coastal allure. The course demands precision with every swing, featuring undulating greens, well-placed bunkers, and a captivating blend of seaside and forested landscapes.

Format of the signature event

For 2024, the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am marks a pivotal shift, designated as a PGA TOUR Signature Event. This prestigious title translates to several exciting changes:

  • Enhanced player field: Witness golfing royalty in action. The 2024 tournament boasts an elevated player field, attracting a higher proportion of PGA TOUR stars.
  • Closing rounds at Pebble Beach: This year, all Saturday and Sunday tournament rounds will be played exclusively at the iconic Pebble Beach Golf Links, offering unparalleled views and challenging terrain.
  • Boosted tournament purse: Witness fierce competition fueled by a $20 million purse for professional players, the highest in tournament history.
Golf pros committed to the 2024 tournament include Rickie Fowler, Viktor Hovland, Rory McIlroy, Xander Schauffele, Scottie Scheffler, and Jordan Spieth. It's a rare opportunity for fans to witness world-class golfers playing what’s widely considered the most outstanding golf course in the U.S.

The 2024 edition: What to expect

World-class competitors

The AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am consistently attracts top-tier professional golfers. The 2024 edition promises to feature a stellar lineup, with seasoned champions and rising stars vying for victory. Expect exceptional golfing prowess and strategic gameplay from some of the sport's finest.

Restricted amateur field

The size of the field has shrunk from 156 to 80, with celebrity participation seeing the most significant change. In contrast with recent years, when Hollywood A-listers drew the most attention, this year’s amateur ranks will be athletes from other sports. Tom Brady, Aaron Rodgers, Pau Gasol, Larry Fitzgerald, and Buster Posey will be teeing off on Thursday and Friday.

The field reduction has repercussions for the rest of the week. The Wednesday Celebrity Shootout will not take place this year. Meanwhile, the sky suites at the 18th have been reduced. Instead, the tournament’s finishing hole will be surrounded by grandstands and open to the public. There will still be some 1,600 volunteers serving guests and running the tournament.

Enhanced fan experience

Tournament organizers are continually innovating to enhance the fan experience. From interactive on-course activities to exclusive access for spectators, the 2024 edition aims to create an immersive atmosphere that celebrates the love of golf.

Fans can anticipate a blend of tradition and modernity, making the tournament a must-attend event. Gala dinners, celebrity sightings, and lively parties throughout the week offer an exciting social scene away from the course.

Spectacular surroundings

Beyond the fairways and greens, the picturesque backdrop of the Monterey Peninsula adds a layer of natural beauty to the tournament. Spectators are treated to breathtaking views of the Pacific Ocean, rugged cliffs, and cypress trees, creating an unparalleled setting for a world-class golfing event.
